The Buncombe Baptist Church was
organized August 5, 1916. Rev. Morgan - Moderator, J.J. Denney,
Clerk, Sister Elzada Casada from Oak Hill Baptist Church, Sister
Elizabeth Patrick from Bethel Baptist Church, Bro. John Worley
& Sisters Sarah & Laura Worley from Ansel Baptist Church,
Bro. Willis Manning & Wife from the Pulaski Baptist Church met
at the Buncombe School House to organize.
It was called Oak Grove Baptist
Church in 1916.
It was changed to First Baptist
Church at Buncombe June 1917
